Having recently partnered with Palace Vets, a mobile veterinary practice serving Central London, we sat down with Guy Killick, their owner and head vet, to delve into what sets Palace Vets apart.
Tell us a little bit about you and your team.
We are a mobile veterinary practice providing at home (or in some cases at work) primary veterinary care. Our belief is that by providing these services at home, we can create a much more relaxed environment for the pets and a more convenient and time saving choice for owners. Thus, combining these aspects to provide a higher quality of service.
What services do you offer?
Primary GP care, vaccines, health plans, travel documentation, at home PTS, disease work up, and long term condition management.
What is the best way for clients to get in touch with you?
We have a variety of ways to which we will respond, such as through our phone, email and WhatsApp.
How long as your practice been open?
We opened 18 months ago.
What’s unique about your Veterinary Practice?
We are a mobile practice. Therefore, we can provide a high level of care for pets, at home. We strive to make sure the owner sees the same vet every time to build a trusting relationship through our convenient service. We try to make the visit as relaxing for the patient as possible. Also, as standard, we always sedate our PTS patients before we euthanise them to ensure it is as peaceful as possible.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Seeing my arthritic and long term condition patients. They are always happy to see me (although some I can come and administer their medication and they don’t even wake up) and the improvement I see whenever we get them on the correct treatment reminds me the difference we can make.
Do you have any interesting stories to share about your time as a Vet?
When I worked at Skeldale (Yorkshire Vet practice), I once grafted fish skin onto a spaniel to help heal a large wound. It was a very rare practice that had not been used to treat an infected wound before, nor a dog before. After I succesfullly carried out the procedure, I even made it onto the television and they wrote about it in The Mirror!
