On Sunday 1st September, Dignity celebrated the grand opening of our new Homecoming Building, nestled within the tranquil grounds of Dignity Pet Crematorium. This special space is designed to provide a more peaceful and private setting for families to collect their beloved pet’s ashes. This new facility hopes to offer comfort and solace during what can be a difficult time.
Before the big day, the Basingstoke Gazette kindly sat down with Kevin to discuss the Homecoming Building, our hopes for helping families, and the future of Dignity.
The day of our grand opening was blessed with perfect weather, as the sun shone brightly, adding an extra touch of warmth and joy to the occasion. Our dedicated team, along with several of our cherished charity partners, welcomed a host of special guests.
Kevin, the owner of Dignity, welcomed everyone and expressed gratitude to those who had entrusted their pets to Dignity’s care. Following his warm welcome, Jess from Lady Bug Art cut the ribbon to symbolise the official opening. The charities in attendance were all animal-based organisations that we proudly support: Helping Dogs and Cats UK Rescue, Dogs Walk This Way Rescue, Hounds for Heroes, Next Chapter Animal Rescue, and The Happy Hedgehog Rescue. Finally, Reverend Tara’s blessing added a sense of peace and reverence to the proceedings.
Throughout the day, our team guided guests on tours of the Dignity grounds and the new Homecoming Building, sharing the history of Dignity, the journey each pet takes with us, and our exciting new projects. The atmosphere was wonderful, as guests enjoyed refreshments and canapes, providing the perfect opportunity for everyone to relax and reflect on the significance of the day.
Jess from Ladybug Art, who kindly cut the ribbon at the ceremony, shared her thoughts on the new building: “This new building is more than just bricks and mortar. It represents the continued legacy of compassion that the Dignity Pet Crematorium family brings to their work every single day. It is a space where we honour the bonds between pets and their owners, where we realise the true meaning of love, and where each homecoming is met with understanding. I am absolutely honoured to be part of this ceremony, to witness the start of something beautiful that will continue to bring comfort and peace to so many. This building is a testament to what Dignity is all about, and I have no doubt that it will.”
