Over the last ten years we’ve visited Dignity’s beautiful grounds four times, each as a beloved pet has passed away. It all started with Sasha our Labrador. She was 14 years old and had been in my life since I was 13. She was not only a dog to me, but she was my little sister and I adored her. Sasha still had the desire to eat, play and go for walks but all those things were becoming increasingly harder for her. My Mum and I had to make the hardest decision of our lives, so I did some research and found Dignity listed online. It was important to us that Sasha would be cremated alone, as having worked at a vet practice I was aware of how some cremation businesses operate.
Dignity went above and beyond for us, not only by helping us with the cremation process but also assisting us in finding a nearby vets as we are not local to Hook. On one of the hardest days I have ever been through, Dignity were able to assist in making things as perfect as possible. Sasha was collected from the vets and we were able to collect her ashes later that day. This meant a lot to my Mum as it felt right that we were able to return home with her.
I have since visited Dignity again on three separate occasions with three of my beautiful Ferret babies.
Dexter my silver hob passed away aged five and a half years old. My handsome boy was diagnosed with cancer so I made the most of whatever time we had left together, while safely knowing I would be able to count on Dignity to assist when the fateful day came.
A year later, Lucy my beautiful Albino girl passed away aged seven years and seven months old and had been through so much in life. She battled through it all but unfortunately old age caught up with her. During another call to Dignity to make the arrangements required to say goodbye to my baby girl, I mentioned Lucy had a fabric toy Gecko that she adored and mothered. Gecko was cremated along with Lucy and this meant the absolute world to me.
Most recently was my gorgeous Polecat, George. He was just over five years old and it didn’t feel fair that he was being taken from us so young. George had also been diagnosed with cancer and he chose when he was going to leave us which was late one evening in my arms. The following morning I called Dignity and we took him to them the same day.
Every time I have had to make that painful phone call, the person answering has always been so sympathetic and caring towards what I’m going through. All my life I have had the “just a pet” remarks (especially with ferrets) but Dignity just gets it. They understand that these furry, four-legged animals are family to us and we want them to leave us with the upmost ‘Dignity’. All my pets had a Same Day Service with keepsake paw prints and fur clippings. Sasha’s ashes are in a wooden box with the option to keep it indoors or bury it outside. For the ferrets I have a single decorative urn and all three of the tiny precious tissue paper parcels fit inside.
After recently recommending Dignity to a friend, she used Dignity’s services earlier this year and we both now feel that no matter where we end up living in the future we will always return to Dignity. A message from her on the day read “I cannot fault Dignity. My Mum was so grateful for how easy they made it. They were so patient and understanding with us and we will never go anywhere else. They were amazing.”
